Lady in the Water

Searching for living places in the day... screenings at night. I guess it could be worse.

Going into this screening I was defending M. Night Shyamalan against naysayers. Sure, the trailer isn't that great for the movie, but, M. Night's pretty interesting and he generally does make good movies (For the record: I like Signs a lot).

But halfway through the movie I turned on Minoj.

Lady in the Water is one of the most disappointing movies I've ever seen and the worst movie I've seen of the year.

M. Night's ego had shown through in his previous works, but not to the extent that it does in this film, and I'm not even talking about his character being a magic genius who changes the way the world works forever. M. Night decided that audiences would be interested in any story that he told because it was him telling it. So, he didn't bother making sure if the story made sense, had reason, interesting characters or interesting anything. He just decided to ramble on and on. It shows.

He'll use the "it's a bedtime story" defense against the onslaught of critics, but, when asked if his children held guide or mold the story at all, he said, "My children know not to talk when I'm telling a story".

That says a lot right there.
