Work outage

Today I had an ambitious list of things to do, watch Kids to prepare for Eric Edwards' appearance in the master class, work on the rewrite of The Prodigy, watch a few movies that I borrowed a while back, just generally get things done.

I managed to watch Kids and that was about it. The power started going out every ten minutes here, so it ended up taking me two hours to get through half of Kids before I gave up and went outside for the afternoon. Nice, but not productive.

I really enjoyed Kids, though. I remember being 13 or so when it was released. I read in Newsweek about the controversy surrounding Disney releasing an X-rated movie. Being that age, I couldn't believe it either - Disney releasing a porno movie? Get out of here! I'd later watch Harmony Korine's appearance on David Letterman, where Harmony announced to the world that he had a pierced butt cheek. I thought the piercing was a bit ridiculous, but Harmony made a really good impression on me, I wouldn't watch any of his movies until years later, but the groundwork was laid for me to enjoy his work.
